baby being baptized

The Sacrament of Baptism becomes the basis of our Christian life, the gateway to life in the Holy Spirit, and the door which allows us to experience the other sacraments of the church.

Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God. By being baptized, we become members of the Catholic Church and our parish family.

Attention: If the baby's parents marital status is not in harmony with the Roman Catholic understanding of sacramental marriage, is needed the permission of the Pastor or Parochial vicar. In order for someone to be eligible as a Godparent, these are the requirements:

  1. they be chosen by the parents
  2. have the ability and the intention to fulfill the role
  3. be at least 16 years of age
  4. be a confirmed Roman Catholic, who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist, Confirmation is leading a life in harmony with the Catholic Faith (including Marriage) and will be a good role model for the one being baptized, and be neither the father nor the mother of the child.

If Godparent is not a member of St. Marys Toccoa Parish, need to provide copies of Baptism Confirmation where the Godparents are registered.
